University of Lahore

In this period of intense scientific activity it has become mandatory that Institutions of Higher Education establish centers for delivery of curricula and for undertaking advanced research. The University of Lahore taking cognizance of this imperative has set up facilities for teaching and research under the umbrella of Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. The Institute covers such diverse fields as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Environmental Science. It is providing trained manpower who could contribute to the economic development of the country.

The research portfolio of the Institute attracts a large number of students for MPhil and PhD studies. I am certain that with the passage of time this Institute, established by a private sector University in the year 2004 will rise to such levels of excellence which could be easily measured on the touchstone of international standards. It is my desire that high quality faculty of the Institute should contribute extensively to advancement of research and development. The management of this University is keen and prepared to make substantial expenditure on research activities of our staff members through a fund set aside for this purpose.

The Institute is collaborating with several national and international institutions for improvement of quality of research. I am glad that our teachers are using both semiotic and interactive methods for transmission of knowledge. It is my hope that our faculty will consistently improve the teaching learning process for the benefit of students. The establishment of Centre for Research in Molecular Medicine as an adjunct of Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology is meant to provide research facilities to our MPhil/PhD students and faculty. I am sure that our faculty will work hard to emulate the mission and objectives of this Institute.

The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) was established in the year 2004.  The Centre for Research for in Reoproductive Medicine (CRiMM) was added to it as its postgraduate and faculty research arm. IMBB offers under graduate and graduate degree programs in subjects of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Environmental Science. It is the first Institute of its kind in the private sector. The curricula for the degree program are designed to prepare manpower needed for the economic development of the country.
